Written in 2002. Though it wasn't intended as such when I first wrote it, this has become my Elfquest song and I officially dedicate it to Wendy and Richard Pini for creating and sharing something that I've loved and has inspired me most of my life.

Of Earth is the wolf that is standing before me
Of Air is the song that at my heart pulls
Of Water the tears that too oft wash my eyes
But its Fire, hot Fire that is searing my soul

Before me the Wolf, I am pinned by his eyes
Strange and warm they engulf me and strip my soul bare
Recognition strikes hard and I see it too late
And I am bound who was unwilling to care

BRIDGE: Close your eyes, release my heart
Say goodbye before we start
Close your ears and do not hear
How my heart calls for you

With shadows you dance and I can’t help but join you
The light in your eyes seems to drive back the dark
I hunt and am hunted in turn through night’s dreaming
Oh Wolf of my dreams will you listen and hark?

With shadows and light we have woven a pattern
With music and dance we have shaped both our lives
Together, apart the distance is growing
The recognition we share remains unsatisfied

The most difficult path now unrolling before me
To speak and watch hope as it whither and dies
I stand on the threshold twixt daylight and dreaming
The goodbyes I would make… are stilled by your eyes
